Mission statement
To remember and honor Gustavo (Gus) Garcia for his many contributions in his legal court battles, fighting for the betterment of Mexican Americans in Texas. To never forget that Delgado v Bastrop started the end of school segregation in Texas against Mexican Americans and that Hernandez v Texas gave Mexican Americans and all Latinos civil rights protection under the U.S. constitution’s 14th amendment as a class apart.
Objective
Raise one hundred thousand ($100,000) for a life size bronze statue of Gustavo (Gus) Garcia. The statue is to honor Gus Garcia and to inspire Mexican Americans, Chicanos, Latinos, Hispanics and others, not to forget one of our greatest Texas heroes. It is a shame and embarrassment that the Mexican American community that he fought for has forgotten how much Gus García improved our lives with his never ending quest to give us equal access to education and civil rights.
Please help us make the Gus Garcia Memorial Statue a reality with a small donation and by sharing this site.
